FAQ

Answers to common questions about the joinXS suite. This page will grow over time.

What is JPEG XS?

JPEG XS is a low-latency, visually lossless codec designed for professional video production workflows. It's lightweight to encode and decode, which is why joinXS tools can work with JPEG XS media directly instead of transcoding it to another format first. See Why JPEG XS for more.

Which platforms does joinXS support?

Windows 11 or newer and macOS 15 or newer, across all three tools. Linux support for joinXS Recorder and joinXS Player is planned depending on interest; the joinXS Adobe Premiere Plugin does not support Linux. See Platform support for the full matrix.
