joinXS Premiere Plugin

The joinXS Premiere Plugin adds JPEG XS import and export to Adobe Premiere Pro, so you can bring JPEG XS media into a project and deliver JPEG XS output without an intermediate transcode.

What it does

The plugin consists of two components, installed together:

  • Importer — Reads JPEG XS media into a Premiere Pro project.
  • Exporter — Renders a Premiere Pro sequence to JPEG XS.

Both JXS and MXF container files are supported for import and export.

See Licensing below for how licensing works, or Demo mode if you want to evaluate the joinXS Premiere Plugin without a license.

Licensing

The joinXS Premiere Plugin supports two licensing modes: online and offline. When using online licensing, you can be logged in on only one device at the same time. When using offline licensing, the license is bound to the specific hardware it was issued for. In both cases, the license is time-limited to your subscription period.

Online licensing

Sign in with your easydcp.com account on the plugin's login dialog, that will show up when you launch Adobe Premiere Pro after plugin installation. The plugin is unlocked according to the subscription associated with that account.

If the internet connection drops while using an online license, the plugin blocks further imports and exports until the connection returns. An export already in progress is not stopped.

Offline licensing

Use offline licensing for a device that isn't connected to the internet:

  1. Open the plugin settings and choose License > Request offline license file.
  2. Save the generated HTML file to a location of your choice.
  3. Open that HTML file in a browser and submit it to easydcp.com.
  4. You'll receive an offline license file (*.joinXS) in return.

Load the offline license file either by dragging it onto the login dialog at startup, or via License > Import license file in the plugin settings.

License expiry

When a license — online or offline — expires, the plugin blocks further imports and exports, the same as when an online license loses its internet connection.

Access to license settings

You can access the plugin settings by double-clicking an imported file in your Adobe Premiere Media Browser.

Demo mode

By choosing "Start Demo" instead of logging in, joinXS Premiere Plugin launches in demo mode. Demo mode is meant for evaluating the product: playback quality is decreased after 15 seconds, and the video shows a watermark.

Requirements

  • Windows 11 or newer, or macOS 15 or newer
  • Adobe Premiere Pro with support for the Adobe Common plug-in framework

Linux is not supported.

Installing

The plugin ships as a self-contained, platform-native installer that installs the Importer and Exporter into Premiere Pro's Common plug-ins folder:

  • .pkg on macOS
  • .exe on Windows

  • Close Adobe Premiere Pro, if it is running.

  • Run the joinXS Premiere Plugin installer.
  • Start Adobe Premiere Pro. JPEG XS is now supported for import and export.
